Summer Plumbing Issues

by B.Annie on July 3, 2017

If you have been on Facebook recently, you have most likely seen a friend who is dealing with air conditioning problems.  But HVAC calls are not the only calls we receive each year.  Summer plumbing problems are a big issue for many local residents.

Summer Plumbing Problems and Solutions

Tree Roots

Because of summer rain storms trees may be growing faster than you think.  Tree roots can cause problems for your sewer lines.  This is especially true if there is even a small leak in the line.  Roots will grow towards the leak.  If you suspect a leak in your sewer line, call us today.

Water Heater

With everybody being home for the summer, chances are your water heater is working overtime.  We find this to be especially true when college students come home.  More showers not only mean more strain on the water heater to keep up but also higher water bills.  Try turning the temperature down on the water heater to save money.  If your water heater is more than ten years old call us for an inspection.  We may be able to catch problems before they start.

We all know our children are little angels.  But these little angels often find themselves bored over the summer and the toilet can become a great source of entertainment.  This is a great time to teach your children about the cost of owning a home and the expense of pulling toys out of the toilet.  Still, keep a plunger close to hand.  You may be able to save the day without calling in the experts.

Washing Machine

If your family is like ours, summer is meant for adventures.  While this is great for the family, it often means your washing machine is running more than normal.  Check the hoses for cracks or leaks.  Also consider moving the washing machine away from the wall a little to avoid kinks in the house.

Garbage Disposals

Garbage disposals are becoming more and more powerful.  Still, there are certain food that are notorious for causing the garbage disposal to fail – watermelon rinds. corn cobs, and bones are just a few of the things you should avoid putting down the disposal.

We know you have a choice when it comes to residential electrical, plumbing and HVAC service.  At Winstar, it’s our goal to set ourselves apart.  Here’s a short list of reasons why you should call us for your next electrical, plumbing or HVAC service, repair or installation.
